Investigating Cirsium erisithales in the Italian Alps
In my second year of university I had the opportunity to go on a field course to the alps in Italy. Here I used photography and imaging software to determine there was no significant relationship between droop angle and light intensity in the thistle species, Cirsium erisithales.
Podcast on Striga hermonthica
One of my assignments in a module covering disease was to create a short 5 minute podcast on a paper about a pathogen. The aim was to roleplay being the researcher. I chose the parasitic plant Striga Hermonthica, a weed which hijacks the roots of crops, including rice, and causes large economic damage in the world. I discuss the taxonomy, development, dispersal and research on the topic.
